Setting up an eSIM on an iPhone takes under five minutes and requires no physical SIM card. Follow these steps and you will be online the moment you land.
Before You Start
Make sure your iPhone is eSIM-compatible (iPhone XS or newer), unlocked, and connected to Wi-Fi. Keep your current SIM working so you do not lose service while you set up the new one.
Step-by-Step Installation
1. Open Settings. Tap Settings, then Cellular (or Mobile Data).
2. Add a Cellular Plan. Tap Add eSIM on iPhone 14 and later, or Add Cellular Plan on older models.
3. Scan the QR code. Choose Use QR Code and scan the code from your Roaminix order email. The plan downloads instantly.
4. Label the line. Name it something like "Travel Data" so you can tell it apart from your main number.
5. Turn it on. Enable Data Roaming for the new line if you want it to use local networks abroad.
Using Both Lines at Once
iPhone lets you keep your original number for calls and texts while the eSIM handles data. In Cellular Plans, set your main line as the default for calls and the eSIM as the default for data. That way you stay reachable and connected without swapping anything.
Common Issues
If the QR scan fails, check that your screen is bright and the code is fully visible. If the plan does not activate, toggle Airplane Mode on and off, or restart the phone. Most issues resolve within a minute.
